Design Checkpoints: A Fast and Easy Technique for Evaluating Designs with Customers
- Robert Barlow Busch

Date: Nov 4
Time Frame:13:00-17:00

Description:
Customer insight is like a narcotic. Once you've had a taste, you want more... and more, and more! Fortunately, this can be a healthy addiction: usually, what's difficult is finding the time and resources to generate this steady supply of insight. In response, we combined activities from usability and participatory design to create a technique called a "Design Checkpoint". Design Checkpoints can occur every one or two weeks throughout a project, so they're perfectly suited for teams who like to iterate their designs often ¡ª even more so than "geurilla" usability tests. Also unlike traditional usability, it's okay for designers themselves to conduct the exercise: in fact, it's encouraged! In this workshop, you'll learn how to plan Design Checkpoints, what to expect from them, and will have an opportunity to conduct at least one yourself.
