A wayfinding system incorporates branding, signs, maps and directional devices to tell us where we are, where we want to go, and how to get there. An effective wayfinding system can add an important dimension to the image of city, it can be a visual ambassdor, a way for a city to say "Welcome, let me help you find your way around and enjoy yourself"

Starting with my work for the Mexico68 Olympic Games I will show wayfinding systems I have designed for urban institutions, public transportation, and city streets. I will describe ways to use the history, culture and physical characteristics of a city to create a "spirit of place" and help people find their way around.
