An Approach to Faster Innovation: Melding Strategy and Design

  Chairman   Ravi Chhatpar
  Time   2007-11-25 8:30am - 12:30pm

In many highly competitive, fast-moving industries, product innovations fail to achieve market success, often because by the time they reach consumers, they are based on outdated assumptions about user behaviors and the competitive landscape has changed.

A key reason for this is that proper product innovation and design, itself a long process based on sound user and market research, ideation, and prototyping, takes place separately from strategic planning, also a long process based on options evaluation, business case development, and downstream strategies like pricing, marketing, and distribution. These two processes are often sequential and unrelated, involving different groups within an organization.

This workshop introduces a methodology that combines business strategy with design, resulting in faster innovations that are more likely to achieve market success due to more agile decision-making and closer alignment with user and market needs.

The workshop will involve a presentation of the methodology with case studies and interactive exercises.
