Liya is an interaction designer at Liquidnet. She is passionate in her practice and teaching of value-based design. She has dedicated her life to designing experiences that connect businesses and products to people. She firmly believes that globally, socially conscious designers have the power to positively impact this fast growing economy by incorporating human-centered practices everywhere we work. Because of this, she values every opportunity she has to connect with practitioners and teach design in China.
Liya has extensive experience working with companies in the gaming, medical and financial industries. She has helped them use strategic design practices and in-depth user research to bring real value to people they serve. Recently, she has been leading the redesign of Liquidnet’s next-generation trading platform. She hopes that this effort will change how some of the world’s biggest financial institutions do their work, thus benefitting people and families who are investing in their futures.
Liya holds a B.S. degree in Human-Computer Interaction, a B.S. degree in Information System with a focus on Communication Design and an M.S. degree in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University. She serves as an active member of the IxDA social planning committee. She is a frequent writer for Apogee HK. She is also a member of the UPA, AIGA and ACM. Liya was born in Canton, China and now resides in New York, U.S.
