Description

Despite increasing awareness of the business needs and benefits of creating products with great UX – Amazon.com, Apple iPhone, and the Nintendo Wii -- IT projects and technology products and services continue to be difficult to use and not meet user expectations and needs. Further, despite companies increasing investments in UX teams, and the burgeoning UX consultancy industry, the impact on final technology products and delivered IT projects continues to be less than desired.

Why is that?

Perhaps the classic view of the role of a UX team (or even the notion of a UX team) is what needs to be questioned.

This talk will discuss alternative views on the context of UX within an organization, how UX can play a larger role, and deliver more value to the ecosystem of products, services, customers, and users. Different applications of traditional UX techniques and protocols, particularly in the context of UX in a globally distributed software services organization, will be explored.

As the executive sponsor for User Experience at Augmentum, Mr. Hom will share his insights, experiences, and possible solutions to the UX dilemma as an executive and technologist responsible for the global delivery of software services and revenue-generating software products.
