Weiming Fan

Fan Weiming graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Design (now Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University), with a Master's degree in Graphic Design. After moving to Britain, he gained his M.A. in Design Studies from Central St Martin's College of Art and Design.

Fan Weiming has a strong international track record in the theory and practice of design, and a particular interest in cross-cultural design. In China, he was active as a designer, art director, editor and lecturer. His designs won numerous awards and were featured in Chinese and international publications. He published many articles on design and cultural theory, and edited a special issue of South Korean Design Journal.

Since 1999, he has worked for BBC World Service Future Media in the area of website design. He has directed and participated as a designer in numerous projects honoured with international awards. He has also won BBC Individual Values Awards. From his work on the multilingual BBC World Service website, he has gained rich experience in cross-cultural design, with a focus on both globalization and localization.
