UPA China (Usability Professionals’ Association China) was established in April 18, 2004 as the China chapter of the UPA. As the first non profit organization of User eXperience, we are committed to creating a platform for the following 3 major goals:

1. Elevate the standards of the usability industry in China by collaborating, learning and communicating with the more mature international usability industry.
2. Introduce China usability community to the international usability community and bring the two closer together.
3. Corporate with the Chinese academic usability community, taking reference with international standards and set up a standard practice that suits the needs of the Chinese usability community.

UPA leaders are chosen through democratic elections. Major decisions are made by the Executive Committee (President, Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and Secretary). There are seven Committees under the Executive Committee including Members Committee, Resources Management Committee, Events Committee, Branches Committee, Public Relations Committee, Technical Support Committee and Industry Development Committee.

The headquarter of UPA China is based in Shanghai with the seven branches located in the following cities: Beijing, Hong Kong, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Hua Chung Technical University and Guangzhou Universities Union. Currently we have a total of 400 members across China, who work in portals, software, communications, handset, education, etc

UPA provides a platform for members to communicate within the UX community through “User Friendly” annual conferences, trainings, social events, and workshops.

User Friendly is the conference brand of UPA China. It was started in 2004 and has been successfully run for 5 years including User Friendly 2004 in Beijing University, User Friendly 2005 in Shanghai, User Friendly 2006 in Hangzhou, User Friendly 2007 in Beijing and User Friendly 2008 in Shenzhen.
